About The Maker

Hello, I’m Emily — the maker, designer, and creative spirit behind Phoenix Alchemy Jewellery.

I was forever doodling, crafting and writing as a kid, so it was only natural that I would gravitate towards something more creative career wise.

I’ve called a lot of different places home, from Cornwall to county Cork. I can’t say I had the most traditional childhood, but it was most definitely interesting! I treasure the memories of summers spent at festivals, family hikes up Glastonbury tor and early morning swims in the bracing British sea. Much of my childhood unfolded beyond four walls, adventuring through imagined realms, fuelled by high fantasy, 80s and 90s gaming, and a lifelong fascination with myth and magic. Unicorns, hobbits, heroes — these obsessions never really faded, they simply evolved.

Alongside a love of tattoos and alternative music, these influences now form the foundation of my work. I create jewellery for those who carry a sense of wonder with them – pieces that feel a little enchanted, a little rebellious, and deeply personal.

I am entirely self-taught, learning through curiosity, persistence, and a willingness to make mistakes. In 2014, I first picked up a jeweller’s hand torch and began experimenting with sterling silver. It was there, in heat and flame, that I discovered my true passion for working with precious metals and gemstones. I was instantly hooked.

At heart, I’m still that feral, geeky girl who feels most at home in wild places, whether exploring windswept beaches or sliding down mountainsides. I also have a lifelong love of horses; while the unicorn of my childhood dreams never appeared, my chestnut mare Amba comes wonderfully close.

So make yourself comfortable, pour a cup of tea, and join me on the journey. There are many stories still to be told.
